About the exhibition
Created Out of Love is a solo exhibition of my new work. Each piece in it was made slowly, by hand, in my studio in Ra’anana.
Every time I begin, I look at mosaic anew: between functional and artistic, classical and contemporary techniques, colour and black-and-white, flat and three-dimensional.
A work starts with imagination and thought. Then I photograph images, choose the materials and look for the right way to say it. I love the thinking and planning, and then the joining of materials, stone to stone and glass to glass, until the whole appears. For me it is a joyful, meditative process.
The pieces here are made of ceramic, glass, slate and smalti. Some are flat, some rise off the wall.
